Fifty Shades of Grey

by T Akery March 30th, 2012 | Fiction, New Releases
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James first deserves a parental warning. Because of the subject matter, adult content and graphic descriptions, this book should not be accidentally left around the house where children who can read are present. It contains very adult material that parents will have a hard time explaining to children.

Anastasia is an American college student who is still a virgin. She soon meets Christian, who is penned as the ultimate rich, bad boy. It doesn't take long before the whole love story degrades into a marathon of adult antics and bedroom escapades. In the pauses

George R.R. Martin (GRRM)

by Louise March 29th, 2012 | Authors, Fiction
George R. R. Martin (referred to as GRRM by many of his fans) is perhaps best known as the author of the bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire series, which was recently adapted by HBO for the pay-cable series called Game of Thrones, based on the first novel.

The fourth installment was the first volume

Dying in the Wool

by Mackenzie M. March 26th, 2012 | Fiction
While skimming the shelves of Barnes & Noble one Saturday last month, both of our eyes met at the same book with an abnormally pretty cover. The light blues, purples, and greens of the cover paint a delicate picture; however, it lies in stark contrast to the perplexing mystery found within the book. As a continuation of Frances Brody’s Kate Shackleton mystery series, Dying in the Wool paints the delicate picture

Moonwalking with Einstein

by T Akery March 23rd, 2012 | New Releases
Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything is an exploration by Joshua Foer into the world of memory. Remembering things can be hard work. Even Joshua Foer has written that sometimes the simplest things, such as his keys, escape his memory -- even with all of his investigation into the field.

The book starts by looking at some of the history of memorization. Back in historical times, books were extremely expensive and no one could read them. Thus, information was retained by the memory. As a result, people had to retain massive amounts of information. Yet as

The Taking Tree: A Selfish Parody

by Kaitlin March 22nd, 2012 | New Releases
I'm not exactly sure why it is, but I feel like my generation is very nostalgic. Maybe it's because we're the last generation that will remember a time without iPads and WiFi, but we're only in our twenties, and we already have this strange desire to reflect on our childhoods. I know many (male) college students that shed a tear watching Toy Story 3. We're obsessed with 90s memorabilia. We're constantly posting "back in the day" albums to Facebook. When my mother brought home the book, The Taking Tree: A Selfish Parody, it brought me right back to my
