Books for Kids (And for Adults, Too)
I love children’s books. I’m an adult now, but I never get tired of reading books for children. It makes me believe in hope and dreams and fantasy.

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was so easy to sympathize with Charlie Bucket. All of us have gone through our share of hard times. And all of us have our own dreams we want to come true. Charlie Bucket exemplifies this dream so well. It’s a great book especially when you’re having a not so good day, and you just want to feel better. And it’s about chocolates! Because of this book, I want to build my own chocolate factory.
2. Ramona series
I have read the entire Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. Ramona reminds us of the trouble being kids among kids. We’ve gone through what Ramona has gone through or at least know someone who went through the same thing. I haven’t seen this series in awhile. In fact, I’m not sure if it’s still available in the bookstore. I might have to check that out.
3. Sweet Valley Twins
This was the first book I bought and read. It wasn’t the best, but it was the series that would define my childhood. I wanted to be them along with all the other girls in my generation. We used to create problems like those Elizabeth and Jessica experienced. It was lame, but we didn’t think so at that time. I don’t read this series anymore mainly because the stories are not as interesting as adults.
What were your favorite books as a kid? Do you still read books intended for kids?
Editor’s Note: The Ramona series is available for purchase in most major bookstores.
In my lower primary school I used to love the fairy tale books, the likes of cinderella, snow white and the seven dwarfs, rumpelstiltskin etc. Then in upper primary school my best novels were mills and boon, hardy boys, famous five, Nancy drew etc. If you give me any of those books now, I would read them gladly.
