You wouldn’t be browsing the articles on ‘Bout Books otherwise. But do you write? I think that most people who love to read have at least one great story stored away somewhere inside just waiting to pour out onto the page.

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short). This is the time to take up the challenge and let that story out. It doesn’t matter if you have any experience writing. If you have an idea, a plot, or a character that continues to kick around the back of your brain looking for a place to go, now is the time to bring it to life.

Writing a novel can be a daunting prospect. Novels are long – hundreds of pages and tens of thousands of words. You can’t knock out a novel in a day or even a week. In fact, most of us with full time jobs and kids and commitments won’t get a full novel down on paper in a month, even if it is National Novel Writing Month.

But you can get started. You can use NaNoWriMo as the impetus to get writing. Write when you can. Share your progress with us here at ‘Bout Books and we’ll shower you with encouragement. I promise.

For my part, I’m nearing the end of my first draft. I finally took the plunge and started writing a young adult novel, hopeful that it will see the light of day by the time my oldest son is a young adult. 60,000 words seemed like such a huge number when I started. Soon I’ll have to go back and trim several thousand words to get it down to that amount.

I hope you’ll join me writing this NaNoWriMo. I’ll look forward to reviewing your manuscripts on this site in the not too distant future.
