The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a fictional account of one girl's story through the very turbulent time of Germany's war against the Jews. It is told through the eyes of Death rather than through that of the girl. Death dictates the story as he is watching the girl's journey through a time when everything was upside down and there were no guarantees of tomorrow.
The story begins as Death picks up the diary of a young girl and begins reading. She is handed over to adoptive parents to avoid the fate of many at that time. Her escape
Illusions by Aprilynne Pike
by Junou Mathieu May 27th, 2011 | Fiction, New Releases, Young Adults
In Wings by Aprilynne Pike, fifteen-year-old Laurel finds out that she's a faerie after a few weeks of attending a public school for the first time ever. Laurel is obviously surprised, yet she also understands. She has always been different from the other kids, yet she never knew she was that different.
Unlike other kids, Laurel never had much trouble waking up for school in the morning after staying up for most of the night. Instead of eating french fries and potato chips as a snack, she preferred crunchy, fresh vegetables any day.
Although a preference for tank tops and shorts

Beach Read: Eye Contact

This week, my beach read of choice was a recommendation from one of my roommates: Eye Contact, by Cammie McGovern.
In the mystery novel, an elementary-aged girl is found murdered in the woods near school during recess.
