I usually do not like Glen Beck's work. There was an extract of this audiobook on The Book Report(www.bookreportradio.com) that I listened to that actually got me interested in the book. Thanks for what you had to say. So planning on reading this one.

I have a cloth covered copy printed by Faber & Faber as well as the 2nd edition in paperback also printed by Faber & Faber. These were given to me by separately by two dear old friends. I simply love them as I think they are possibly the first Chinese cookbooks to be printed.

[...] The Help follows the lives of three women in 1962 Mississippi. Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just graduated from college with a degree. But it doesn’t mean anything, especially to her mother, unless she gets a ring on her finger. Aibileen is a black maid raising her seventeenth white child, one she’s devoted to, even though she knows their hearts will eventually be broken. Minny, Aibileen’s best friend, is “perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi”, according to Amazon. She can cook like nobody’s business, but her sharp tongue prevents her from keeping a job. Minny eventually finds a job for someone new in town who doesn’t know her reputation but who has secrets of her own. Together, the three women band together to form a partnership that will put them all at risk. (For another view of The Help, read this article.) [...]

Dear Ms. Henry, thank you for the wonderful, exciting and wrap around reading that you provide with your writing. I feel emersed in the country-side, the personalities and the mysteries. I do really enjoy these books. I have so far, read all but three and am waiting for my library to tell they have found them. I hope you will continue to weave your characters in the frozen north into mystifying tangles and troubles only to emerge unscathed. I look forward to more adventures in my armchair. Again, thank you and I remain a loyal follower waiting your next journey.
Respectfully, kj swanson

I'm glad that I planned on getting this book at the library. As much as I love the easy beach read, I'm thinking I might skip this book and hope that 17 will be better. Thanks for the honest review!
